CRX Roll Cages
i dont kno who weveryone else feals but i dont feel safe in my gutted crx. long stars short, i cant find a roll cage for a 90 crx that looks like its worth buying... if you have pics of your cage please post them and add the prics and place where you baught it thanks
Is this a DD? And just cause your CRX is gutted doesn't mean it is more/less safe. The plastic interior really isn't going to save your life. I would look at Autopower or Kirk racing for roll cage cause they will actually help. If your going to put in a cage make sure it is a real one and not the gay monkey bars everyone puts in for there show Ka.
If this is a DD then I would not put in cage unless you want to split your head open.

i think he is concerned with the car crushing on him...get some padding for it if you are afraid of hitting your head...and position your seat correctly...

If its a daily driver, forget the full cage set up... in an accident your head with get "bent." As far as "padding" goes... that is intended WITH the use of a helmet as well. that padding will not save your skull.
An autopower or kirk bar ROLL BAR (not a cage) would be the cheapest for your situation. You could have a reputable cage builder fit your car with a "back half" cage/roll bar... but thats going to cost you. The autopower bar was built with the intention of the interior staying in the car... so if you are gutted, it will be gappy. The Kirk bar can be made to suit your car. If you call them and tell them the car is gutted and will stay that way, the bar will come a little bigger... Kirk does custom work, where autopower is a cookie cuter build. Kirk has also redone some of their designs for the rear bracing to take them out of the crumple zones... which is good.
My daily driver will have an auto power race roll bar installed this month... i DO need the harness bar for track weekends.
if you need a URL google "Autopower Roll bar" and "Kirk roll bar" i'm sure you'll find something
ps- I'm one of the two NASA-MA tech inspectors... i see cages and roll bars all year... in almost every car you can imagine being on track... PM me if you have questions
edit: DO NOT buy a Cusuco (sp) CAGE... they are flexable junk... in an accident they have a pretty good chance of failure (poor design)... and it would really suck to have a peice of metal through your head after an accident.

I'm fairly certain that wouldnt pass any "real" tech inspection... any bend in the rear braces is a safety issue and could cause it to collapse. just my 2 cents

I wouldn't drive 10 feet with that thing so close to my head. Worst placement I've seen in years.

if he is short (no offense!) it would be fine.
as for the guy recommending weld in vs bolt in, well you can certainly weld in any bolt u p cage. and on that cage i mean i can see 1/4" gap in the weldings so what exactly are you selling?
in a roll id prefer a bar a little close to my head then none at all but keep in mind rear end collisions are _THE_ most common accidents so keep that thing away from your head, and make sure your seat is legit. In decent race groups its expect you have a rated seat or something where the back is braced against the bar so it cant fold over. there are a lot of considerations to make.

NO... just because you are short doesnt mean a cage would be fine. I am only 5'4... i was T-boned in the drivers side door on the street. my head hit the roof while my seatbelt was still on... image if there were a BAR between my head and the roof...

i know its hard but lets think a little bit. you can see those gaps because the cage isnt welded together if it was how would it be installed?
