hey guys whats up, my friend was driving his stock 90 dx and it was raining, so we turn the corner and he gets a little wheel spin when he gets out of first gear, right after that his car just shut off. we pull over and try to turn the car back on and it cranks but wont start, it leaves a pretty loud backfire. so i check the timing belt to see if it skipped teeth and it didnt, then since it backfired i figured its gotta be something with the distributor so we pull out the cap and the rotor screw fell off. well we put that back on and it still backfires when he's tryin to start it. any flames or help will be appreciated thanks.

did you friend have a cold air intake on his car??? if so he could have sucked up some water and that can cause the same symtoms. good luck

 

no cold air, this car is bone stock. thanks for the help though.
