Apexi' N1 vs. Greddy Evo?!?!?!?!?!?!
Trending Topics
I used to have the Apexi N1 on my 5th gen, and I have a friend with an EVO on his 5th gen. Evo sounds like *** in my opinion. Very putt-putt-putt cheap sounding.. Like an ******* cassarole bumblebee exhaust. The N1 sounds deeper at lower rpms, and very race car mean sounding full throttle. I preferred the look of the N1 over the Evo too, that Evo/PE design is way played out in my opinion.

it all comes down to which canester style you like and sound you perfer, the EVO is not as loud as the N1 when engaging in vtec but still sounds good. i still like the EVO and thats whats i have , but im not going to bash other brands out there. it just comes down to finding someone with the n1 and see if you like it.
I prefer a custom exhaust, with an actual 2.5" pipe.
why no one makes a 2.5" catback is beyond me... but I would go with the N1 if I was you.

no need to switch exhausts IMO. i have an evo, and enjoy not making the bumblebee noise that the canister exhausts make. yes they look better to me, but i hear my exhaust a lot more than i see it.
no point if you already have the evo.
personally i think the n1 is way too overbearing. not like the evo isn't. i'd rather have a greddy sp for sound though. sounds much more crisp and deep.
you virtually have no power increase by using an n1 over an evo unless you have a moderate all motor set-up. i believe the design of the n1 is a bit more straight with less bends or straight bends if that makes sense.

While we are on the subject of the Apexi N1, what size (in inches) is the inner diameter of the N1 piping and canister?
and kinda OT but how much HP would I lose by going with just an AEM CAI and 3" custom piping with N1 muffler? I plan on going turbo but I was thinking about getting the exhaust first.

Yes - there is hardly a dime's worth of difference in the performance offered by the exhausts - I thought this was a question about appearance/sound...

Thanks for all your alls opinions, I really am torn between the two I have no clue if I really wanna change to the N1. The biggest problem I have with the Evo is the fact that the flange that it has hit the ground a lot. The flange meets directly under the rear a-arm and I think that, is a very bad design for lowered ludes. and I only have the H&R sport drop. Any one have any suggestions
i have a 99 lude with NEUSPEED race springs 2in drop. i have the GREDDY EVO and it hasnt hit the ground yet. the greddy evo is ment for lowered vehicles, the apexi N1 is going to do the same thing. if you look at the EVO it curves at an upward angle towards the end. i havet had any problems going over dips, juts go an an angle if you have to. go slow
if you are hitting the evo then you will definitely hit the N1. make sure you listen to one on a prelude before you buy it though. you may not like that noise. diversion got rid of his.
The actual exhaust is not the problem its in the piping and i think it has to do with the fact of it being an SH the exhaust piping is shorter.
I have the Apexi N1 exhuast and I love it. When VTEC kicks in, it sounds very nice. Yes, the N1 do sometimes scrape but its not the pipe or canister, its the resonator. The N1 design uses the least amounts of bends possible so the resonator hangs down a little lower and the canister is a little angle out giving it less bend. Also I love that angled look of the canister. You see that on cars in Japan. For your information my car is lowered on Tanaebe Sustec Coilovers and I have 18's with 35 series tires, if you guys needed to know how it was lowered. One more thing the exhaust works well with more mods. I hope I explained it good enough for you to understand. Either way its your choice. Good Luck
A guy around here has the A'pexi N1 and i'd easily consider it one of the worst sounding exhaust's i've ever heard, kinda surprising. Even with a strait pipe, I can't imagine it sounding that bad. Anyway I have an EVO on the civic si and it sounds great, even on that lower displacement car. For my prelude i'll do mugen, but if i had to pick next in line, it would be evo.
oh and if it matters, i dont have the stock bodykit rear skirt or any other skirt (just base regular black thing) and my evo kinda annoys me because it was meant to be with a skirt, make sure you dont think it looks like *** without a skirt otherwise it will annoy you every day, if that matters to you.
