can it be a relay or something elce
On my way back from neworleans today... soon as i got out my guage lights went out i thought it was a fuse i stoped and replaced but as soon as i put it in it blew so i figered something was grounded out said i can make it home drove for about 30 miles then got pulled over it turned out that my tail lights stoped working to. i finaly got home checked stuff out and i see nothing grouned out. moved a couple of wires around then put in a new fuse it lasted for a while then i turned the lights off they where still on... then i hit my brights then the fuse blew again... so could it be the relay??
i replacedt he relay today still the same old problem dont know what do i have been looking all day for some wires that ground out pulled high beams compleatly appart didnt see any thing some body help lol
Doubt it's a relay,
Usually a defective relay will keep a circuit"open" and the accessory won't work. A short- to-ground is most likely the problem. I'd unplug the tail light assemblies, install a new fuse and turn on the lights. If the fuse doesn't blow, plug each tail light assembly back in one at a time until it does. You can do the same thing with the front light assemblies. Just a process of elimination if you don't have access to wiring diagrams. If the fuse continues to blow than you'll need to get a wiring diagram and start separating the circuit at common connecters until you isolate the short. *shorted tail light bulbs or sockets are common.
