fuse keeps blowing
Sup peeps, I have a 96 dc4 rs, and my fuse keeps blowing, as soon as I put the fuse in, it pops. Its the instrument cluster/plate light/driving light 10a fuse. I checked My cluster, driving lights, plate lights and nothing seems to be wrong..thanks for any help
Pull out the wiring diagram and a multimeter and start isolating parts of the circuit until you find that short. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer for this.
Since the fuse blows as soon as you put it in, chances are that the problem is before the switch. (Is there a relay for these lights?)

this sucks. I'm not good at electrical stuff, Even if i get a multimeter and a manual, i wouldn't know where to start..i did install an amp before this happened. it works perfect, can this cause this problem?
yeah i was gonna say start at areas you may have touched or things you have added, like a fan switch, radio, gauges ect. thats always the best place to start.
I also believe there is a relay if i remember, its really small. it goes together with your cluster harness (a small seperate harness)

I had a similar problem -- shorted out the fuse protecting my head/taillights at night while on the Mass Pike.
I guessed that the problem was due to a short I made when I installed my stereo. I fiddled with the wires behind the stereo, tried to keep them away from anything grounded, and the problem was solved. No problems since (and I've since tidied up those connections a bit).

12v constant " run from the battery with an inline fuse.use proper gauge"
ground "any clean metal area. Keep ground wire under 12" and use proper gauge"
remote turn on "blue wire on back of radio harness straight to the amp"
Just re do the wiring and you should be fine.

What was the amps power lead connected to, it should be the batt. pos.(+), is it not?
I would also check and see what the red/black lead in the stock radio harness is connected to, should be an orange lead on aftermarket HU if it has one, if not, the red/black lead should be isolated if not used, it is "illumination" if it shorts to ground the 10A "tail light" fuse will blow.
You also said, "fuse keeps blowing, as soon as I put the fuse in, it pops" is the park/head light switch on when you put the fuse in, or does it make a diff. if the switch is on or not? 94

the amp is connected proper, I've done it to all my other cars, but i trusted the wires that were already installed, were good to go..my fault..
I blew 2 fuses when the switch for the driving lights was on and off. it would just spark..fuse boxes for the win
ill rewire everything today, and update
Why must the ground be under 12"?
Sorry to bump an old thread but this may help someone.
I was having this issue (radio fuse blowing as soon as key turned (I) after radio installation, the issue turned out to be..There was a 20 amp fuse under the hood in the back up radio spot instead of (I believe) a ten. Good luck troubleshooters.
