Default bump in the trunk question... moreso about the trunk.

Ive been lookin at getting 2 15's for my 94 EX... however tonight as I was cleaning all the **** out from where my mom trashed it.... I noticed that there is like a flap in the trunk thats carpeted, that covers the extra wheel. I was wondering, would it still work to put the box in the trunk if I took this "flap" out, or should I just leave it in and put the box on top of the "flap?"
(sorry for using "flap" as a description, im not aware of a name right now...)

You are referring to the spare tire cover. What I did to my civic is take it out of the trunk trace it onto a peice of plywood, cut it out, put it back in and use brackets to mount the speaker box to the new cover. Also use Dynamat to get rid of the extra noises in the trunk. It may sound good on the inside but people on the outside will plug their ears.

ya i also just traced it on a piece of wood and fit it in there, and put my two 12's in a box and did it all. heres a pic

the first was the my old way, the second is the new one.. i know it is a trunk box and not just a regular like in the first picture.. but like i was agreeing, its a good idea to just trace the carpet on wood, cut the wood out and mount your speakers on there, so that way your speakers arent floppin..

So did you guys just lay that plywood in the trunk, or screw it in after you carpeted it?

Actually I screwed the speakerbox to the plywood on top of my trunk carpet for a little extra hard to steal factor. I'll take pics of mine soon.
Nice install though. A big improvement.
