Buying a Type -s
Ok I plan on buying a type-s in April or may. I am looking for dealer quotes now. I am wondering what a good quote is and What kind of benefits I should be looking for.
I think I will just finance through AHFC, I have a trade in. I know to work out a price before I tell them about my trade.
So I want an 06 Type-S with Black Leather and Magnesium Metallic Exterior.
I live In Cincinnati, There are 2 Local Dealers 2 more about an Hour or so away. I will Drive for a better Deal. My Current Loan is through AHFC so I dont think I should have trouble getting the loan. What kind of credit score do you think I would need to get a 20,000$ loan? Im only 20 so I have credit but no Credit history.

Does anyone know if you cab get the SI with out that ugly spoiler. I figure If I take it off
it will leave holes in the trunk.

I'm sure you will get the loan, it just might be at a higher APR.
When I buy a brand new vehicle, I try to get the price down enough below MSRP at least enough to cover sales tax (i.e. if sales tax = 9 %, I want a 9& discount). With Hondas thats about as low as you can go because of the demand.
Do not be afraid to low ball!! Have no shame. They will laugh at you, but that's their job. After a few hours of haggling, arguing, and almost walking out, they will go as low as they can go. I walked out over 200.00 once and went in the next day and bought it at their final price. (16000 after delivery for a 2005 Civic LX Special Edition Auto - brand new).
Also make sure you get the dealers competing. Say "so and so said they would do this, can you beat their price??" have no shame, don't be too proud, just do it.
Research Edmund's listed invoice price (which I believe not to be true invoice, I paid below this on the 2005 civic). Research on all the ways dealerships make their money. If you order your car, they make money on the fact they don't pay interest on the loan used to purchase the car to sit on their lot. Little crap like this.
Good luck

I think you are looking to early. They are going to be a lot of civic si's at the honda dealership in april or may. This will give you something to bargain about at acura. I know you dont want an si, but the salesman knows that they are hard to come by now. If you get a quote now, I am sure in april or may it will be cheaper.
Im sure you know that it is better to sell your car yourself. I would get a price from the acura dealer (which will probably be low) and then price the car at ~10% higher. I'm not sure what kind of car you have but say you own a 00 civic si. If they offer you $7000 for the car, You can make a quick sell by putting it on CL for $7700. This way everyone wins. Someone gets a good deal on your car, and you get more money in your pocket. You can take that extra money and pay a few car notes. If you get ahead on your note you will save on the interest.
Sorry for writing this book.

Yeah I agree If I wait until may I will be more likely to get a better deal.
The only reason I was going to trade it in, So It would make it easier on me. I know I would loose money. I will be moving soon before I buy the car new apartment with garage. I also plan to buy a beater just before I buy the type-S. It seems like with moving and buying a beater paying my car off to get the title at the same time, Would be too much :shrugs: (99 accord coupe V6). I am not sure but I think you are right I will wait a few months. See how much money I have. Thanks
