thinking its about time for a rebuild
ive done a search and i havent found what im looking for. so heres the deal. i have a 96 spec ITR, bone stock. its 10years old and it smokes a little bit, and im in need for more power. i think 250 whp on 91 pump gas with hondata should be plausable. what do you think i should build it with? pistons, cams, valve springs ect. i want to keep the head with the factory port and polish, intake manifold. so can someone point me in the right direction. thanks.
do you have any idea what it takes to get 250whp NA on 91 oct???
If you leave those parts factory, and do everything else right, you can hope for ~200whp.
Now lets get serious, how about turbo, 6-7 psi?

You dont seem to realize how difficult it is to pick up the additional 64whp. Nevermind trying to do it on 91 octane.

but thats why im asking. you dont think a 2.0L, 12:1 comp, flat valves, some good cams, a custom header and hondata? at least 230-245 whp?

your not going to make 250 wheel with 91 octance.... and even if you do, its going to be a sketchy build that will requires LOTS of tuning.
You will need 2.0liter if not 2.1 liter (85 mm bore and or 89 mm stroke, which I believe is right.) , Toda valve train (or something as good), Toda Spec D's or maybe Rocket M24x, and prolly 13.5:1 compression forged pistons, hondata, and amazing tuning and lots of money... prolly about 15k unless you do alot of the work yourself.
And a port and polished head.... A high flowing head will be very important tryign to get that power.
Unless you have the money, or just really want that much power NA. I would say keep it 1.8liter and do something similiar to my built, which you can search for cause I dont; feel like posting it up. But once I get a better header I should be around 215 wheel and maybe 150 ft lbs. Thats pretty sick for NA 4 cylinder car. But believe me, I would love 250 as much as you would if I had the money.
And if your going to be draggin the car, then I would advise you save your money and run a 100 shot... I have seen it safely done on HT with a stock C5 engine. He ran a 12.9 I think. Username is Peoplemover I believe.

i was reading in Over Rev mag that Brenda Rose has a hatch that runs 11s and has 250hp 170tq all motor. but i wonder what setup she has...

Yes thatt is true. Eugene at Prostreet has those setups makin 250whp+ on race gas. Like everyone said, you're aiming way too high for a first time thing. 220-230 is more like it on 91...

Shoot for a lower goal first, then build from that, throwing money at the motor and having someone else build it is not always the smartest thing to do, take time and research to find which parts work best with what to get the most power and reliability for your money
