I'm looking at runing a true ball bearing gt40r on my build
darton mid sleeved b18a1.
84.5mm cp 9:1 pistons
Manley Rods
Knife-edged, balanced, micro-polished, camhfered and fluted crank
Fully built gsr head
-RPMnyc port job
ferrea valve guides
1mm supertech black nitride coated valves
ITR cams, aem cam gears (probably getting replaced with a custom grind)
The car will be street driven so i dont want it to be a total slug. i would be using the .95ar turbine housing as well. its either this or a gt35r but id rather have the gt40r

hmm, so 6500 for almost 38 psi? not bad, makes me wonder what it takes for that turbo to make 500
jordo, youre just mad cos your car would never run on the old setup

lol, ok so it ran a little bit before you swapped manifolds and fixed the coolant problem, now it runs
ive been hearing from a few ppl that the gt40r is very very laggy. s im probably looking at getting a gt35r, im aiming for 500 on pump, maybe a little less

really? thats almost impossible, lol. so a .95ar t4 housing on a ball bearing platform spools faster than a run of the mill t3/t04e?
now what gear is geoff talking about? i can imagine in 4th and 5th it builds boost pretty fast, but what about 2nd and 3rd?

if you're still doing it for street car, stay with the GT35R. There are no reasons why GT35R can't give you the power that you're looking for. I seriously doubt that the GT40R spools faster than T3/4E. You'll be looking at 5800-6000 rpm ish for the GT40 R to spool, if your T3/4E takes that long to spool, something must be wrong.
I may be wrong, I have never had any experience with GT40 R, I went a step ahead to GT42R

While a dual solenoid and co2 setup would help keep boost up, this pretty much has tested the limit of the GT40R compressor on a B series motor. A lot of people dont realize that this is not a monster turbo. This is the equivalent of a scaled up disco potato. It is not meant for drag racing, its just meant for crazy power and fast response. its a very efficent combination which results in a feeling of very little lag.

all i was saying is that in my car, on the street, if i hit the gas at 2500rpm the car moves out faster than when it had a little t3t4 and a stock motor. i have a fully built motor with evrything i can think of doing to a honda. this setup's changes do not end at just the turbo...

it's the largest compressor wheel, 94mm ex, 74mm in. 1.01 A/R on the hot side.
It's actually for sale...

ok... it made 471 at 17 psi., the gt35r will make that at 14-15
remember, im also running this motor on race gas, so id max out a gt30r.
the gt35r is only 100 bucks more than the gt30r
