Default Auto won't leave park position?

My car is a 1992 4 door eg. Automatic. This morning i started my car and i couldn't put the car in drive. It was like i wasn't pressing the brakes and trying to put it in gear. Any experiences?

Can you move the shifter when the cars in the "ON" position?

I would check with the sensor thats on your brake to activate the shifter.

you should hear it click when you step on the brakes... it's electrical sensor.
If you don't hear it... thats your issue.

If you do hear it and it still won't go into drive.... put the key into the shifter console depress to neatural, take key out & put into ignition & try to start.

I will check the sensor. As for the hill incline i was on flat ground. He it is the electrical sensor how would i in about switching that. And i had to put the key in and put it in neutral to move it. I will check that right now

check if you have battery power first.
BTW can you start your car?

ok.... with that out of the way. I don't know exactly which wire it is. it should be under where the brake pedal is... very close to it. Sometimes the wire would come lose and pop off (heard that before)
Best thing to do is check your helms... it should be an easy fix.
