I recently swapped my motor. There is a ticking/tapping coming from somewhere up in the top of the head. Thing that has me stumped is this only happens when I apply gas while the RPM's sit between 2500 and 3000. Could this just be a valve(s) tapping?
Exhaust leak in the EGR system?
Leak in the EGR Valve itself?
Leak at EGR Valve Base gasket?
Valve lash adjustment?
Worn Cam Follower pivot shaft?
Exhaust leak at Header Flange?
Just some suggestions....

OK, nother quick question. Would any of the above cause an idle similar to a vacuum leak??? I've searched high and low throughout my engine bay and could only find one leak... on the back of the IM.
That reminds me. Can someone give me pictures of where each of the 3 vacuum ports on the rear, driver's side of the IM run to??? I couldn't find the connection for one of them and just blocked it off

The EGR Base Gasket could cause not only an Exhaust leak, but a vacuum leak as well.
You could also have an internal vacume leak in the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) which causes the traditional "idle hunting" complaint that makes it thru here occasionally. If DesertHonda were still contributing here, he'd have the repair proceedure. (but he isn't).

Anyway, do you know where those 3 lines run to?
