I was browsing s2ki and i was quite surprised to find out that a lot of people dont go into 6th unless they are on the highway. i actually alway use 6th gear to just cruise the street even at 40 mph. just wondering when yall use 6th gear.

 

I use 6th at anything above 45mph. I have an AP2, and it nets me close to 30mpg combined.

 

i use 6th alot in my ap2...when i had the ap1 i never used it really...

 

yup i shift into 6th if im going above 45-50. unless i know im gonna have to accelerate like in traffic...

 

same here i only use 6th when im over 50mph

does anyone else have severe rattling when they drop the gas to the floor at anything less than maybe 2500rpms?

 

everyday at 100+

I get the shakes if I'm nailing it below 2k rpms in anything but first and 2nd. My car actually starts to pull at 2.5k.. sorta.

 

i used 6th in my ap1, and now ap2.

 

Anything over 45 mph for me.

great so nothing is broken my civic pulls just fine even at 1k... i wonder what makes the s shake?

 

isn't that shake/rattling involve the TSB for 00-01 about the clutch plate?

i have that rattling too

Every AP2 I've driven has done that, stock, modded, you name it. I'm thinking it has to be the way the motor is positioned in the car, longitudinally, and that allows more vibrations to twist the chassis? In FFs, the shakes would go front to back, while in the S we get shaken side to side.

my ap1 rattled more than my ap2...

 

The AP2's chassis does feel a bit more solid.

6th when 50+

 

6th gear @ 45mph and up when cruising..

but when i'm smashing it, I don't touch 6th until I redline 5th.

I noticed that in 6th at ~50mph, half throttle accelerates faster than full throttle.
