Buying an EG Hatch: Holes in rear window?! Pic inside...

You see the little plugs on the rear glass where the "shocks" (I guess their called dampeners?) go to the glass?
On the car I am looking to buy there are no plugs and no "shocks". The holes are covered up with duct tape. Do I need those "shocks". I can always just get plugs for the holes, but what are those dampeners for and will it hurt if I don't have them?
yes you need those dampers so that your window hatch stays open when you open the trunk. you don't need them if you don't want them, but it'll be an inconvienence.
when i bought my hatch the shocks were blown and wouldnt keep the hatch up, i just went to the junk yard and found some right away. i suggest that

Those tend to strip out or wear out on a lot of 92-95 hatches. Just get the shocks for them, it's much more convenient, than having someone hold the glass up for you while you load/unload your crap.
haha, mine were out since i started school in aug and using my head to hold up the hatch while got my book bag and **** was ridiculousgot me new pieces that fit in the window since they stripped and fell out for xmas, no more head!
