The DOT requirements for passenger car tires are a lot more complicated than that. You can read them here.

BTW those tires are for oval racing, according to Hoosier's website.

If you take them in the rain you will most likely wrap yourself around a pole.

If you want to drive them on a dry summer day and get a ticket, knock yourself out. But please, for your safety and that of others, don't drive those in the rain.

sounds like a bad idea in the wetness but I dont think an officer of the law with anything else to do would notice or take the time to write you a ticket for tires that are not obviously illeagle

heres to spending sat night on honda tech cause im a f#(%!^g loser
(I cant type the sound of a fart or it would be right here)

that would mean for racing use only, not meant for street use. You will never see that on a DOT approved street tire.

Also as stated, look at the tread. A tire like that needs alot of heat to be sticky, so its of absolutely no use to you at all on the street. not only will it not be sticky cause you'll have a hard time getting heat into it, if there is even a hint of rain or morning dew...have fun with that.

Also doubt insurance would cover you when you wreck, since it says right on the tire not intended for street use, yet you used it anyways.

That said...slap those on for auto-x (heat again would be an issue) or road racing and enjoy them, but keep them off the street

if you want to street race and **** thats cool, but do it right...buy some good DOT aproved drag radials, if you want to kill yourself by using tires made for race only have fun, but your also endangering every one elses life around you

Are you saying that he is endangering everyone else's life around him if he street races with slicks, but he's not endangering everyone else's life around him if he street races with DOT approved drag radials?

Just curious...

im saying by using the non DOT aproved tires to get to the races hes endangering peoples lives, but at the actual races, everyone there knows what can happen and they are willfully putting theirselves in a situation where they could be endangered...street racing isnt safe at all but everyone that goes and watches them or races knows the risks involved and they are willing to take them or they wouldnt go

The only problem with that is the car that pulls out onto the street not knowing there is a street race going on.

Keep it on the track.

thats true...but back in the day when i used to street race, we always went to the end of a deserted street with no roads that turned onto it for about a half mile down the end...plenty of room to race and to slow down after its done

but now that i look back on my street racing days i realize how stupid it was, and how easily i could have died

Ya, a lot of racers just do it on open roads without any considerartion.

Glad to see you have earned that wisdom, especially just at the age of 17.

Cheers.

very true, and now there are so many different avenues of speed available that won't get you into trouble. Auto-x (affordable) and circuit racing/HPDE are available.

I for one learned fast that speed is fun, but it can expletive up so many things, insurance, driving record, car and lives once a high speed crash happens.

Thats why I going full speed ahead into Auto-X this spring. Beat the clock is fun because its you, your car with your set-up vs your previous best vs others with simular mods/experience.

I used to drive 180 km/h on the 401 whenever I felt it was safe to do so, then I started modding my car and realized how much money is involved...now i drive like an old lady except for corners.

Props to you brother, props to you.

Don't get me wrong, If you research it you will find that the 401 is designed for a 120kph speed limit. 180 may not be all that much but studies have shown that it is the difference in speed that is deadly. If every one is doing 180 than it is all good. but if someone is doing 80 and someone is doing 140 you have a lot of trouble. (oh and if you get busted doing 180 you can expect not to drive again till you 42...lol)

In the end the purpose of a car is to get you from A to B. Don't abuse it. (on open roads)

Cheers.

agian props for learning the cost of speeding and iresponsibility.
