Default Turbocharger what to pick for a ITR

First of all, happy new year to all of you guys all over the world
I hope the poor vtec engines still hold up in 2006

No my wondering....

What do you guys recoment for a turbocharger?
ITR 1.8L forged internalls, stock sleeves + head, boost will stay under 1.2BAR.
I want as fast spool as possible, will run it with EQ manifold.
Rev limit will be 8800-9000. And I want the power to raise all the way to revlimit almost.
I want to C full boost at ~4000rpm.

I was thinking of :

GT2871R
GT3071R
SC50 Ball Bearing

But what Turbine housing should I run? Any suggestions, any thoughts?

Anybody that can calculate it on a turbo compressor map?

Thanx Yashar

Hey, there's lots of info in the Forced Induction forum and also lots of information in the FAQ's thread on top of the ITR page here on H-T.

You mean the GT2871R Trim 76 A/R 0.86, I'm very intrested in that one, but how will it handle 1.2Bar?

What your wanting I don't think is possible. For any turbo to preform up in the 8.5k range and work effeciently. While hitting full boost @ 4. is not possible.

But I would recommend the GT3076R. With a midsize A/R housing on the hot side maybe a .82 This shouid spool a little above 5k. and pull till redline.

what kind of racing do you wanna do with the car or horsepower level you looking for? if its drag i say use the GT30R if its roadcoarse i say the GT2871R. if your running the 30R and wanna see full boost by 4k look into running the .63 a/r.

But seriously, go for a GT2540 with the .86a/r housing. Loads of torque with little lag.

1) don't do it!

2) If you do do it, I'd suggest GT2871R with the .63 AR exhaust side, as long as you're not looking for more than 350-400 WHP. Spools around 3000 RPM. Instant-on.

I say the GT2871R with the .82 A/R exhaust side if you want to keep the power going up top. That turbo is really only good for like 300-350whp, but the spool time is real quick and who cares about what boost level you are running it is the power that counts.

my gsr. with ITR cams. built bottom end 9.8:1 compression with the GT2871R with 63 AR exhaust side made 400 WHP

dyno chart this is at 20 psi. race gas. 18 psi by 4300 RPM

On my b18c5 it spools even earlier, or so it would seem. Nice dyno though. Downshift and you don't lose any power.

I know we went thru this once, but was your boost falling off/wastegate opening, or are we seeing the edge of the turbo's efficiency at 400 WHP?

I haven't dynoed with the new .63 A/R, just street tuned, but it feels a lot stronger than the .86 overall (the .86 didn't make much boost until 5000 RPM. I run it right around 1 bar, sometimes 1.2. It holds that up to redline.

I didn't like it, that's what I had on my first GT2781R. Spooled late. Fine for drag racing, but for street/track I had to downshift too much (or just fall out of boost )

Thanx guys for your comments.
Anybody that has a dyno on B18C-R with GT2540 the .86a/r housing.
I've heard alot about this turbo but not many that runs it....
A dyno on GT3071R A/R 0.63 would be good to see as well.
