So my friend is running a LSVTEC with a LS ECU!
A friend of mine that barely came down from Oregon bought a 95 Civic Coupe witha LSVTEC but the wiring was done all wrong and the ECU was a LS ecu. His car is now throwing black smoke and sometimes white so I dont know what went wrong. I converted his ECU to a vtec and got a bin. for his car. I did a compression check on his car and it all came out 190 across. well sort of like 188 190 and I cant remember the other ones. I asked him if he was revving the car alot and he said "like a dumbass" was doing burnouts and racing with the LS ecu. Could any damage have happened? What should I check for?
Hold up your hand and say to your friend, "Lets see who's hands are bigger." Then when he's looking at your hand knee him in the nads.
black smoke = rich.
Either bad tune, bad injectors, or somebody got the fuel pressure turned up too far. Or the motor is just junk, like most sold LS/Vtecs are.

its probably running very rich or... needs to change the ecu... the ecu is reading the incorrect fuel consumption...
Lsvtec's are very good motors... some people cant build them correctly so they talk ****.. but they are good ****... i had mine for a long while...still smoking h22 swap and subaru turbos like nothing

yeah they are good motors, but I wouldn't buy one of the street unless it was built by somebody known.

out of curiousity, how did you convert a non-vtec ecu to vtec??

wow, you are retarded.
SuperSi, if everything is working now dont worry about it. your friend is a dumbass but odds are nothing was damaged espically if his compression tested normal

Its not difficult to do so. I would look it up for you but 56K is a bitch. So look yourself. P06 to P28

but a p06 is not a ls ecu. its a civic ecu. and a p28 is still a civic ecu. your maps would be wrong if you were using a p28 map... your car would run like poop. a ls ecu is a p75...

not all cars that have swapped powertrains have been ran to hell. in many cases, a stock engined car have their engines ran to hell. its not a matter of if the car has a swap. its a matter of who drives the car and how was it maintained. i could run the crap out of my camry and pretend its a race car and leave the thing in 3rd while on the highway instead of 5th, then sell it and say its all stock... but i still ran the hell out of it.

who builds an lsvtec then doesnt run it?
