i am in the process of collecting all of the materials for the 0bd0 to obd1 conv. and i was wondering why you have to change the dizzy, doesnt it just read the voltage through the ecu.

First thing on google - explains how, but not why (which doesn't really matter). I can't say exactly why, but I believe it has to do with the sensors themselves. Same function, but probably different/incompatable signal output. I do know that it usually is due to the mounting points in some cases.

It's pulses per rev, but yes. I think it's OBD0 that has 18, and OBD1 that has 24, although my numbers may be off.
