Default Motor swap options for 2001 Coupe EX

Okay, so this car came with a d17, can you bolt in a b series, or only the k series?

I checked hasport, and they only showed a k20 mount swap, so i'm guessing just the K series, but wanted to know about the b-series.

why would the b series be just as expensive? You mean because of special motor mounts and such? Because last time I checked, the k series motor swap was about 5 grand just for motor, tranny, ecu.

custom mounts need to be made.

oh yea by the way, the 5 grand for ecu, motor, and tranny is for the k20a2 motor which is the rsx type S motor. the whole swap for a k20a3 could be done for that much.

Actually the 5 grand is for a K20A motor. You can find the A2 motor for as little as 3 grand if not less. You just have to know where to look.
I have only seen one b series in an EM2 and it took boat loads of work. Stick with the K series. I had an A2 in my EM2 when HASport first came out with the mounts. This was back in the day without conversion harnesses, K-pro, and all that stuff to make the swap easy. I had to figure things out for myself. It took me about 11 grand to do it all with all the custom work that had to be done. I think now with a 3 grand A2 motor the whole swap could be done for about 5.5grand if you did the work yourself.
A K20A swap would cost you about 7-8 grand.

Like others have said, the K20 will probably be the better value. I read somwhere that the k20A2 cyclinder head flows better than a ported b-series head.

Well if you car has 180,000 miles on it, a 40,000 mile motor sounds pretty damn good.
40,000 on a honda motor is nothing. I always say thats just out of the break in period. My B16A had close to 60,000 miles on it when I got it...no problems. Just keep up with the oil changes, and other maintenance things and you will be fine.

sounds good. I'll get a 2000 then instead of the 2001.

Thanks.

There are actually several of them. A few were done in Japan, as well as Taiwan. I can only remember of one in Canada as well.

They were all custom jobs, and were a lot more than todays standards.
