Default are 96 and 2000 EX ecu's the same?

I need a wiring harness for my 96 CX that I just put a Y8 engine in I don't remember what year ecu I have I think maybe a 98 but could be 99. Is there a difference in the harnesses through the years? I'd like to buy one off of ebay as soon as possible

ok my ecu should be a 98 is there any reason why the harness would not work with my car 96 CX or the engine sensors from a 00 EX.

CX, DX, LX = P2E ECU
EX = P2P ECU

96-98 = OBDIIa, they should work. You will need to run wires to get vtec running.

the also make OBD2IIb to a converters.

If you used CX harness on a civic equipped with Vtec (such as your EX), you would throw codes because CX (as well as DX and LX), do not have vtec or knock sensors.

I just did a mini-me on my DX recently and had to add more wires to the harness to run the vtec solenoid and the knock sensor.
