Default 1998 EX Power Lock problem/question

I recently got a 1998 EX V6 sedan. I noticed that the power lock on my front driver's side door doesn't work. When I set my alarm, I have to manually lock that door with the key first. And when I disengage the alarm, I have to manually unlock the door with the key. Anyway, my question: What is most likely the problem with that door, and is it something I could fix on my own? When my old car had a similar problem on the passenger side, Goodyear wanted to charge me nearly $400 dollars to fix it, claiming it was expensive because they have to take the door panel off (must be tough to deal with those plastic clips). Thanks for any info you can give me.

Does the pdl work when using the controls on the door?
Is the alarm oem or aftermarket?

For the record door panels are pretty dang easy. Once you've taken one off they're all the same for any make/model. Start on the bottom and slowly work your way around, then there's a lip around the window seal (unscrew handles and stuff too).

Sounds like the motor might be burnt out. It won't work if you flip it from the pass side right?

Sounds like Goodyear is trying to rip you off. Taking off the door panel takes about 5 minutes.

Anyway, most likely your problem rests with the solenoid. Another possibility is the wiring going to the solenoid.

The driver's side lock doesn't work at all. If you use the switch on that side, all other locks respond but not that one. If you use the switch on the passenger side, all locks resond except the driver's side front lock. Also, the alarm I have isn't OEM. It's a Viper, but I'm not sure what kind. It was in the car when I bought it. Thanks.

sounds like the driver side door lock actuator. replaced mine last year and left long howto one might find under search for jamin.
mine however had no aftermarket alarm. after locking with key door would cycle/click and sometimes other doors would not lock from driver door with key.
