Default power steering and so fourth

i was wondering what kinda power difference there is with or without power steering. i always hear people say that removing power steering frees up some pony's. My question is, how many pony's are we talking?

i havnt had power steering on my car but miss it, it was fine at first but after driving a regular car with PS, i miss it.

im thinking of putting the power steering system back on

Did you bypass the pump completely, or just take the belt off?

With the pump bypassed and the rack drained, the steering effort is greatly reduced.

Having the P/S diconnected does pretty much nothing unless you have a lightweight crank pulley that only runs the alt. If my car came with P/S I would leave it unless you change out the steering rack to a manual one. If its a street car than be prepared to wear out you front tires... at least you'll have ripped arms!

basically i just moved the belt and compressor, the lines and everything are still there.

i didnt have the right mount for to mount the PS pump to the block and i had to pass inspection so i just removed the pump and left everything else

if i wanted to re-install it, id just have to install the pump, and get a belt

i daily drive my car and its just a huge pain sometimes without power steering, i heard without PS car makes more power, but havnt seen any facts on that........

Wrong, the steering feedback is greatly increased.

You admit to not even having any first-hand knowledge of the subject matter, so why bother to comment? The steering rack on P/S equipped cars is quicker, so swapping to a non-P/S rack is a downgrade.

Again, you don't know what you're talking about.

taking the belt off will feel diff then actually removing it all. Removing it all gives it a little better feel then with the belt off. But it can be a pita sometimes. You get a little jerkiness or pull into turns when removed.

AMEN!

Dare I say it's one of those things that should be removed for track duty?

7whp and 10ft-lp@3000rpm increase is good for a mood almost for free and no tuning needed
