Default What's under the fuel pump cover?

I bought some carbon fiber fuel pump covers from carbonall(thanks Dustin) and I'm about to install them. Do I need to unplug anything besides the obvious plug in the back? I'm just wondering if it's a straight up swap. Is there anything I should know before I embark in this "would-be" simple install?

Thanx.

Uhhh... just being a wee bit curious, why would you want a carbon fiber fuel pump cover?

A little bit of bling I suppose. I'm getting some custom carpeting done in the rear which will expose the two cover. Carbonall really hooked me up on price.

Anyone have an answer to my question above?

There's nothing tricky to it.

Remove and replace.

Remove OEM fuel pump cover, replace with CF fuel pump cover. If you have the rear interior out, it should take 5 minutes. BTW, you should invest in a helms.

I never thought a former ITR owner and forever R-Speed member to turn into some cheesy ricer with a CRX. Way to prove me wrong, Opie!

Can you weigh both pieces when you have them out?

The fuel pump cover is made out of a thin piece of aluminum. I wonder if the carbon cover actually weighs more than stock.

they are half the weight of the original but mostly for bling factor. They are made with epoxy resins and 3 layers of carbon fiber

you can make carbon fiber light and very strong. Carbon fiber has gotten a bad rap as far as weakness and being heavy because the overseas manufacturing use 90% fiberglass and resins on their products which makes them weak as you can see from this pic, this is a porsche body. The whole things weighs only 66lbs and would be stronger then hell! It is all in how it is made and the materials that is used to make them. This body includes everything. Even the mirrors

exactly! you get what you pay for. Most import applications you don't need the higher quality/price tag

Yeah, yeah. Full interior will remain. The custom carpeting was an idea I got from an issue in Honda Tuning along with exposing the fuel pump covers. I won't be doing wheel to wheel racing or anything crazy. Just track day, HPDE type stuff. The cage was obtained for safety and chssis rigidity. This ain't no gutted out, no carpet having race car and even though it's got plates with daily driver status I dont drive it everywhere, every day. I'm in a two car family situation.
