Default Couple of basic questions

I find that when im on this forum I dont know what a lot of things mean

Like..hydro b16..what is that?

Turbo timing? One of the main things that interested me is how does VTEC work? I knew it was a big deal when mentioning hondas/acuras but what does it do exactly? Does it sound a particular way? I noticed people were worried becuase they didnt hear it in their cars?

Is it hard to drop a turbo in a gen 3 teg and still have it be reliable as a every day driver?

no...hydro has nothing to do with motor...its how the clutch is engaged...it refers to a type of transmission setup....a hydro b16 is the transmission out of the 99 Civic SI

That is referring to the transmission. The transmission is hydraulically operated. When you push on the pedal it moves the piston in the clutch master cylinder which then creates pressure in the system which then transfers to the slave cylinder which then converts the hydraulic force into mechanical force to engage or disengage the clutch.

The reply by shorto85 addressed this quite well.

You might be referring to a turbo timer, which is a device that allows the engine to idle after the owner leaves the vehicle. The main function is to help cool the turbo by circulating oil through it.

Try this link for some good information about the VTEC system: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question229.htm

It's not particularly difficult, but it is also not inexpensive and requires proper setup and tuning.
