Mini-Me or 5 Speed?
Ok i have a automatic four door eg and i was wondering which would be more cost effective. I have about 600 to spend on either and i do plan on boosting later. This car is a daily driver and i have never driven stick before. Don't know if that matters or not. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
you could probably do both actually. random figure 200-300 for tranny 150~200 for head, depending on what kinda deals you can find, you might even have enough leftover for a super cool jdm air freshener
He needs more than a tranny. He needs all the bs to convert and also clutch and flywheel. The 5spd will make the car more worthwhile and fun to drive.
Well i made a parts list and it came out to 350 for the trans and 200 for the z6. Now the trans is a little more because it only has 45k on it. Is it pretty easy to do the trans swap? Also how much power can the stock axles hold up to? Thank you. Vtaaak Yo and Heylookits shawn.

lol, trust me your axles will be fine with the power you are gonna make. trans swap isnt that hard, just time consuming. same for head swap. just get some directions from here, there have been quite a few write ups on this i think, and remember to torque everything to the right specs
Cool. I grabbed the thread that was posted in this forum a while back. I heard the clutch pedal interferes with the auto pedals. Is this really that bad or not?
you cant use your auto pedals, you have to use the pedal assembly from a manual car, which you can usualy find in a junkyard. you also need a manual ecu
awesome. Thanks for all your help. Would you say this is something i could do over a 4 day weekend? Assuming i get all the parts before i start. I don't have any air tools but i do have basically everything else and i have done various diy projects on my eg. So i am slightly educated at hondas. What is the bitch pin i keep hearing about?
the bitch pin is the little roll pin thing that connects the shiftlinkage to the tranny, and it is rightly named
i forgot the punch size you need to use to knock it out.
if you have someone to help you you could probably do all of this in a day or two.
it might be a little hard not having air tools, but it can be done with hand tools. just remember to loosen the axle nut before you get the car on jackstands. without air tools you might need to use a breaker bar and a big cheater pipe, that nut can be a pain sometimes
