is it me or is people getting carried away miss using the word rice

i just look at about 25 different post on this board and over half of them some call's something rice

 

Wrong forum if you ask me for this thread. Members Corner seems like a better idea!

 

Rice is a subjective term. There is no way of quantifying "rice" nor is there a universally accepted form of measurement. Take the weather. If I was to say it was "cold", I've have a way of quantifying it because my thermometer measures 32 degrees Fareinheit. There would be no arguement, it would be cold because 32 degrees is freezing.

Lets say we were both looking at some chick who was walking by. I said he was cute, but you thought she was ugly. Would either one of us be right? Nope, because no one is right when something is subjective.

 

i call a car rice when its obvoius they did something to their car just to get attention OR the car is done up in very VERY bad taste, ie. unpainted pieces, altezzas, fart can muffler only, huge wing, gay racing strips, gay chrome hubcaps, 14" tristar wheels, stupid paint job, stupid racing stripes, stickers, exsessive tint, the list goes on... damn ricers

Is it just me or is the whole discussion of rice getting played out

 

people who talk so much about rice are ricers and who driver riced out cars, so rice is......

On http://www.vwvortex.com the word Rice always follows the word Honda. Whenever a body kit is used that isn't one of the top 5 brands, it's called Rice.

The moderators usually lock a thread if it has the word Rice in it.

 

no not necessarily.
just that, they dont really appreciate kits that arent made specifically for dubbs.
weird i kno, but they would rather a german company make the kit than a japanese company. you kno what i mean?
so they usually associate wild kits, and such that would look like it would be on a honda show car....rice.

 

Some Kits are just a little too aggresive to be accepted. I personally would only put a new grill in and change my lower grills, but others want the crazy stuff. I personally don't like carbon fiber, if I got a CF piece for my car (intake) I would paint it. Its all about what you like. Fellow dubbers will only accept graphics if you are sponsored. Putting labels on the door panel is just plain wrong. Sometime you hear why some people debadge their VW "cause when the ricers see 1.8T they don't want to race"

what do you call a hamann widebody kit on an e36 bmw...sauerkraut? ive seen plenty of distasteful mods on cars from all countries. but i agree, this whole rice thing is getting played out quickly. so is everyone who jumps on the jdm bandwagon and starts bashing rice, when they were rice just minutes ago.

 

Some JDM things are turning into rice now...everybody has to have this and that when it's just for looks and is a trend.

Anyone else catch the I said he was cute, and you thought she.....anyways I think rice is just when something looks crappy, not done right, and not really doing anything to better the cars preformance. That includes big bodykits that actually hurt the cars preformance, like hood scoops "wow that rs eclipse off f & f had one! I need one too" Thats ghey. I can't really speak to much about race because my car was vandalized and well it looks crappy, i had to keep my altezza

ive never seen something this funny before...but its so true...sometimes it does suck to see people trash out 60k cars...(not talking about the hamann kit) i see benz's and bimmers every day in the valley with hyperwhites, stickers, aluminum wings, guages everywhere inside, etc. its not just a honda/acura thing...bad taste is everywhere...theres people who "got it", and people who "don't got it". (bad english, but you know the expression)

 

Hmm... bad taste isn't a good thing, some people can't help it though, everyone has there own tastes in things. Everyone is different, and I leave it at that.

 

Not the RICE issue again! Look.....I only cook WHITE RICE ONLY! Not some daymn Uncle Bens package perservative bland tasting additived loosely bits of rice!

Average day= 4-5 cups of rice and about thumb length of water! Cooked and steam to enjoy!

the man just asked for opinion, i'm sure the last thing he asked for was an english lecture from this msg board. If he did ask for it, I'm damn sure he wouldn't ask it from you, even though I'm glad to see you can use the English language just dandy.

Yea, this word os overused so much that alot of my friends I talk about cars with on occasion tend to call ANY import a "ricer", no matter the degree of outrageous mods. Pisses me off....
