Each state is different. Here in California, we have some of the most strictest laws in the country regarding modified cars. Even more so in San Diego where street racing was really big. Yes, the police can search your car AND pop your hood based on suspicion. However, even when they do pop your hood, I would imagine that have to at least somehow prove that it was stolen AND give you the chance to prove otherwise. to injustice.

Im sorry they followed through and ****** your tranny. I do belive that people are innocent until proven guilty, apparently the police think otherwise.

So what did your lawyer say regarding this matter?

Thats definately your starter. But that sucks that, it happened. Same situation happened to a friend of mines. Long story short, he had a JDM b18c and cops said it was stolen and ripped it out of his 94 Civic coupe.

I recall a number of these threads where CHP impounding integras without VINs on the transmissions and in each case the model year never had VINs on the transmission. These police are wrong, what they did was wrong, and you even had to pay for their mistake. I really hope you take this further. If not sue them, at least prove to them they are wrong.

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Its not like theres evidence of a VIN being filed off, there just ISNT one. How can they assume that means its stolen? Hell even the VIN sticker on my tranny is nearly falling off. Remind me never to drive through California.

there is no such thing as VIN# for an older model ls integras..except the newer ones..
thats true you should take further action regarding this matter...ask the cops to show you some evedince that your tranny was stolen..and tell'em it came that way from the dealer..
F those police who assume that your tranny is stolen
and fu.ck all those thieves who ruened our reputation..
