Default dc5 type r intake manifold: Worth it?

Ive seen these go from as low as $240 to as high as $350. I heard they go out of stock quickly as well. Are the gains really worth the price? Any difference in say installing it on a base model or a type s? There were a few threads on here that helped but nothing too concrete. IM sure with more mods as say upgraded cams the manifold would help out. I was also under the impression that the type s and type R TB are the same size.

there is no need for the type r mani unless you have bigger cams...our cars manis flow enough air for the stock cams...now if you plan to get cams in the future...then you will see some gain...

Of course, upgraded cams are a must, i was just asking if for the price it was worth it or are there other IM's that outflow this one for a better price

Yes, it's worth it. The gains are realized in the top end. As for the cost and options, you don't have anyother alternative. Your choices are either going with the prc, rbc/adaptor, itbs, or 75mm ihb im. Sounds like price is an issue, therefore stick with the prc.

Price isnt the issue really, im sure no one else wants to buy something and waste their money on something that only creates mediocre power over stock. Thanks for the input though

do you plan on rasing your rev limiter? Because if you don't, then theres' really no point in getting this im.

Still doing research on what to do, dont want to overwork the motor. I plan to dyno it and go from there.

that motor can take a lot of abuse, you can raise the rev limiter slightly and it will be fine on stock stuff. the type-r manifold is developed for the extra rpm's the type-r revs to.

Let the manifold be one of the last things you purchase. You need to be more concerned with saving for a supercharger or turbo set up.

Nobody is going to dyno their car with just a prc im. Instead of brooding over the issue, I'd recogmend modding around this until you are bottle-necked and do in fact need a free-er flowing im.

I'll try to see if I have an old one from 2 years ago. Like everyone is saying- if you have bigger cams and you run high rpms- ok cuz you'll notice it top-end. On the dyno sheet you'll see it in the upper part of the power band
