Hello guys. Well I have come to you guys for help. I mainly use my car for street driving and sometimes hit up the canyon roads and plan to run a few autox's and road race here and there.
So my question to you guys would be, what custom spring rates should I get front and rear on the ground controls w/ Koni yellows? Thank you in advance for I am not a guru on suspension. Please feel free to leave your 2 cents and let me know if I should look into anything else for this GC/ Koni Yellow setup.

order from GC directly, its still $339+shipping but from GC and you should call them regarding rates and speak with them, they will suggest some for you.
for shocks, $460 shipped for yellows in the marketplace, just look for them. Got a set from nolimitmotorsport and that worked out great.
so $460 shipped for the shocks...$339+ shipping for the GC

Is 16 the stiffest or softest? And what kind of bouncy is it? Also how low is the car? Is this your first set of aftermarket suspension? You might be mistakening a stiffer suspension that feels every irregularity in the road for being bounciness.

for custom rates? the ones on ebay are the off the shelf rates only.

One of the big issues that I found when testing the Tein SS kit for a few months on my '89 CRX is that the spring rates are not too greatat all. They are 440f/220r and the car started understeering the more you push it above basic street speeds. After hating their rates, I did my own coil-over kit on SPorts and am quite happy on the street with 400f/325r and then change the rear springs to 600s for track days. The car is rather aggessive but very livable around Cincinnati on a daily basis without pounding then on track a real spring rate that is going to be too much for the street will really wake the car up. You can swap the rear springs in as little as about 30 minutes if you have a decent system and the tools ready.
I am obvioulsy not a fan ot the Tein dampers either as they are very basic but their sprign rates alone are doing you no favors if you driver the car at anything over basic street traffic speeds. I run fresh Koni Sports off the shelf at about 1/2 turn up from soft setting for the street.

yes i'm sorry I was talking about the regular rates. Some people swore the SS rides nice and are stiff because those were probably their first coilover owned or perhaps they owned a worse one before and have not tried out custom rates that suit their needs

16 is the stiffest. Its seriously almost rediculous, like if they were to be set to 1, i would like easily lose control bouncing everywhere like a damn rollercoaster. No, it is not my first set of aftermarket sus. The teins are also as low as they can go, Im slammed but since tein allowed them to go that low i would assume it would be okay.
Still dunno if its worth it or not..get rid of my used Tein SS for my 89-91 for around 700-800 and just get the GC/Koni combo for about the same price...but they are gona be brand new w/ life-time warranty... I dunno if rolling on these as low as they go affected them...

are you adjusting the tein ss correctly?
counter clockwise ----------------------------clockwise
left-----------------------------------------------right
soft---------------------------------------------- hard
end------------------------------------------------start
start at all the way clockwise (all the way right) which is the stiffest setting (0) then you turn it counter clockwise.

i have found that one click back from all the way hard takes alot of the bounce away, also you should raise the ride height up a little bit from all the way down.
sounds to me like you should have looked at the application chart a little better before buying. you would probably be more pleased with type flex or higher
i have super streets on my ek, and they perform exceptionally well for their intended use. daily use on a street driven car. not track use, you have to make a comprimise at some point

can u please explain in detail what u mean by starting all the way clockwise. Since i did buy these shocks used, i never got any instructions w/ them, i just went by word of mouth.
From the original owner, he said to start all the way CC since you can feel it stop and then i have 16 clicks clockwise for full stiff. He said the shocks let u go past 16 clicks clockwise and that is bad for them to go past. Have I been doing this wrong the whole time? I just want to be sure. Thanks alot for the help

I have a good feeling your shocks are blown !
If its soft that means that there is no rebound left in the shock.
If you are getting poor handling too.
Maybe the coilovers were misused ny the previous owner.
[/b] I would never buy used full coilovers or tires[/b]
