I have the most amazing Honda mind on earth.
Alright, here was the situation, we had a 92 cx hatch. And one of these ebay b16's (cable type). Okay, it didn't come with axles so the first thought was, duh, get integra axles. Got em, too bad we got the 94- hydro type (one female inner, and one male inner) . So then I was sure i was gonna be right, so i looked up the 90-93 style cable type, right inners (two males) wrong!... toooo short, about an inch on both sides. But, i did some homework, made some phone calls, and got the answer i was looking for. You have to use axles from an 88-89 prelude. Yep, the old stinky B21. But they work, they're an inch longer than the integra axles, and they work! So tell all your friends.
joe johnson..
yea they all come with hydro trannys..but he did a first gen b16 with custom mounts most likely HASPORT..and first gens use cable tranny's..

Plan B. So how much did the whole swap end up costing you? Did you use the hasports mount kit? Im thinking of dropping in a b16 in my 92 hatch and if the first gen is a cheaper route, i think that's what ill do. b16a2s are overpriced.

so you are saying you did the hydro to cable conversion? was that a problem? was it difficult to do?
i am saving for a b16 for my 97 coupe and i was thinkin about gettin the cable tranny type cuz its much cheaper. but if it is too much trouble to convert i am just gonna save for the A2.

Yep, the 1st gen is great and all, but you do have to replace the distributor and the injectors with better ones that have the u.s. spec pulse rate or something. Some technical bull-**** or something. The HAsport kit is what we used and it was cool, the hydro to cable thing is kinda neat, it works anyway. I think it would be less problematic and cost about the same to just get a hydro set-up, anyway it would shift smoother.

Wow, i didn't realize how big an accomplishment that was. HAsport is probably sending an assasin my way as we speak. ****, i'm gonna start selling these bitches on ebay, i get em for $36 and I bet I could sell them for $89 + core.
Honestly i don't know how much this guy spent on the engine all together but i think those things are like $1100 on jdmhondaparts.com, i suggest finding one within driving distance unless you want to pay shipping $$350- ugh! Then add in distributor, all the wire splicing you'll have to do, unless you are not so technically enclined. It certainly is a great improvement over the cx motor for a fair price. So everybody steal my kindly shared information with no care to the hard work that I had to put in to figure it out.
Later, i've got work to do.

I dont get it.. would the axles from a b16a fit? Or is it just that Hydro tranny axles dont fit? And whats this kit that turns cable into hydro? Sorry bout the questions I'm sure I could find it in a search but my time is limited... I work fulltime and school fulltime so I dont get much internet time anymore...
The 94- integra axles do not work, wrong inner joints.
b16, del sol and civic Si are the same, duh
90-93 integra axles are too short, they would be the same as the j-spec b16 axles with cable tranny.
that's why you use 88-89 prelude axles, they have the same inners as the cable trannys and are an inch longer.
HASport makes a hydro to cable adapter so you can use this in a hydro equiped civic, integra, whatev. It's like $250. But this will save you from buying the HASport or Place Racing axles which i think are around $180 a piece.
