Just swapped motor...Now Brake Lights Won't Turn Off
I just started up the ls motor in my 91 Dx for the first time today. Had to swap from dpfi to mpfi, and I also put a 91 integra brake booster and master cylinder in during the swap. Right after I connected the battery my brake lights automatically came on and they won't turn off. Any ideas? I'm wondering if the brake light circuit runs anywhere close to the engine bay or maybe it has to do with installing the new master cylinder???? Btw, the car runs great, no cels
did you happen to check the brake pedal sensor that runs under the dash and at the top of the brake pedal arm..its a small plastic "prong"(for lack of a better word)and..when the brake pedal is released..it pushes in a little "sensor" thats located up near the top of the brake pedal arm..these are made of a hard rubber and get old and worn out and sometimes fall out(therefore no longer pushing in the "sensor" and allowing the brake lights to stay lit..just one thing to look at)this happened on my CRX and it baffled the hell outta me till i saw the worn out "prong" lying in my floorboard..put 2 and 2 together and found my problem..i fixed it by just using a short bolt/nut in the hole where the "prong" used to be
if this isnt your problem..at least it's something to check out
