Default bad valve seal??

okay, here's my 2nd attempt at this. here was the 1st https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1411682

anyways here goes again.

1. 98 gsr motor
2. no vtec, burning a lot of oil
3. previous owner did a replaced a bad valve (said vtec worked before that)
4. talked to a few people, said that it is possible an oil pressure problem but some are saying that it could be a bad vavle seal since the previous owner did replace 1 bad valve
5. im thinking previous owner didnt install the valve correctly, he did say that he didnt touch anything else
6. would having a bad valve seal make vtec not work (vtec does work when you hook it up to a switch, but cuts in and out)

so please help out thank you

i assume having a bad valve seal would effect your oil pressure, resulting in no vtec . . . .

follow the vtec diagnostic flow chart and see what you come up with. run a compression and leak down test. you could also head to an emissions test site and have them run a pretest and see what levels you come up high on to determine engine condition as well.
