As a chassis the EP3 is superior to the EG and EK in many ways. You can moan and complain about McPherson suspensions all day long, and I think we all understand the theories behind it all, but the fact is you're probably just never going to have your EP3 in a situation where the McPherson suspension is going to be a disadvantage.
In the mean time, you have a modern, clearly superior chassis that's designed around Honda's most modern technology, and you can add any number of high HP improvements with what amounts to basically plug and play installations.
I just got rid of my EP3 but it was only because I got a good buy on a CM8. I think the EP3 as a project car is clearly superior to the older EG and EK designs.

yeah i was thinking as for road racing ep is probably a bit better,u can choose wider tires and so on.its just ep takes lots of many to fix up. my cuz from argentina said to keep my car and fix it but i dont have lots of money but i like my ep alot though...

George is correct, yet again. I am wrestling with the same question. Of course I am still paying on my ep and its my dd, so I think I will get an ek or eg that I can pay cash for carry just liability insurance on it. Not to mention parts are plentiful and cheap for the older Honda's, swaps are a dime a dozen. When I put a b16a1 (I know hardly cutting edge) into my da9 I think engine and labor was only around $1600-1700 and that was engine, tranny and ecu.
As I start down the slippery slope of racing one thing I recognize as paramount is that this stuff is not cheap. I have to think a race build for an eg or ek would be a lot cheaper than an ep.
George, sorry to hear you left the club.

Well, honestly, I have second thoughts even now, but the CM8 comes with 245 HP out of the box and gets 27 miles per gallon (mixed driving) while exercising it.
I looked at the TSX and the TL, but this seemed the best buy. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1470282 Suspension is just slightly squishy, but the TL's A-Spec suspension bolts right up.

It sounds like you might just want to find yourself a way into an EG.
Remember, though, that the extra weight of cars like the DC5 and EP3 are because of extra passive safety. I still remember that picture of the EP3 that crashed into a tree at 80, and both driver and passenger opened the doors and walked out.

this may sound crazy but i never think of saftey to much, but i go to the mountians alot, and my ep feels heavy on the brakes, tires thread gets damaged alot more...weight kills in a car for autocross . i feel the ep holds me back and it does ...to heavy.i need something light to let me do what i want to do. but my ep is new and thats what i like about it.
lol its just really hard to decide, because k20a come with no miles at all really only like 10k and its new really which is great.man...life's a bitchlol i dont like the idea of two cars, two insurance crap two everything....nooooooooooooooooo!
if i get to depressed over this ill just get those 7g's for the k20a and bam there u have it.but ill see i guess

The same dilemma runs through my mind every day as I daily drive an EP but have an EJ thats been sitting dead for a couple of years with a pile of parts needing to be installed.
I must say though, as time goes on I grow fonder of the EP chassis. It is such a fun car and it just begs to be driven to its potential. The k-series options don't help much either lol. If I never owned the EJ I wouldn't think twice in choosing to build an EP instead.
Sucks because I can sell off my parts for the EJ, and have the funds for a great suspension setup on the ep, a k20a swap w/lsd trans, hondata, etc. Its just the fact of it being a comfortable, fun, daily driver with a warranty that holds me back with that car. ...although the warranty will be up in about a year
