problem with gas pedal

i got a 89 crx not too long ago and when i step on the gas pedal it doesnt do nothing intill after about 1 or 2 inches then it startes revving. how can i fix this problem? thanks

Check for slack in the throttle cable. Is is an HF? If so that might be normal
