An intake is an intake. They all do the same thing suck air. Everyone will have there own arguments of which is better and has more HP gains. I myself have always used an AEM on all my cars.

Other than this. An intake is an intake.

your ticket might be more than that but the reason they are more is because aem does research and design and i belive they might put some heat resistant paint on them or something im not to sure... There filters are also very nice and are made by k&n were as the ebay filters are just plain crap.

Yeah...

You could probably even make your own intake from PVC pipe and achieve the similar hp results...assuming that the pipe diameter, location of the filter, and pipe wall resistance to engine compartment heat is the same.

I wonder if an intake made out of plastic would sound different than one made out of metal...?

I might just have to try that.

Yeah I don't really see any difference in intakes. I guess telling everyone you have an AEM intake is worth the money

is your intake tube touching anything hot? what color is it? maybe you can wrap it in that heat resistant stuff.

also, while this is here... after installing my ebay intake last week, my gas consumption has went from 22mpg (driving conservatively) to 28 (going WOT whenever i want).

its amazing.

The only reason justified for getting an AEM V2 intake is for carb purposes, for states that have severe smog laws (California). The 'whale penises' intakes have been proven to give a 'tad' more power but IMO it's not worth the money. And the ones that are made out of carbon fiber are just for engine bay bling.

Bottom line: One intake may give you a LITTLE more power, but if your not all motor (and I know more than 90% of you aren't so don't even pipe up and say you are) I can't justify spending more than $40 on an intake.
