Default looking into a early CL for my next car

i bought my first car which was a del sol back in July, then drove that for awhile but it stoped getting use now that winter is here and thats when i bought my second car which is a 1990 mazda 626. its ok for now but around spring time i want a new car. ive been looking into buying an early CL. but ive seen some reviews that says the tranny is bad or some models dont get good MPG. ive been to certain forums but i reside here since nobody else can help me out. ill be looking into the 2.2model. just for daily driving but ill prolly add maybe exhuast, header, intake, coil overs, and a comptech s/c down the road. now what do you guys think about this car. i may be getting it in a automatic so i dont have to deal with all these hills. let me know , TIA-

the first gen CL's are very similar to the 94-97 accord coupes. they share many parts. i would imagine the 4cyl is decently reliable, as are the accords. the auto trannys are known to shift pretty harshly though/stiff.

I own an 01', and I know for a fact the the 2nd gen CL auto trannies are weak and have tons of probs. just go to acura-cl.com and you will read some stories. If the tranny isnt under warranty, you may have a problem. Just dont beat too much on it. Otherwise, great car
