Black 2006 Si w/ Navi over 5 months away!?!?!?!?
Hey guys ive been on site for awhile now but never really post anything on here... I mainly just go on here to get tech info and see what everyone else is doin to their cars...I have a B16 1988 CRX si currently (for sale soon)... But I have been waiting to get the new 2006 Civic Si with NAvi... Im staying current with all the info on it so im not one of the guys who comes on here asking the same questions about What mods I should do first when you can simply just read through everything… Almost all the answers are already on here… But anyway, I spoke with my local dealer over here in Sacramento and they are selling the Si's at MSRP which is great, but he gave me the worst news in the WORLD!! First, he says that 1 in every 10 Si's will have Navi and Second he may not have a Black one with Navi for about 5 months at least!!! Has anyone heard similar news around here? The guy I spoke with is the manager, but im not sure if he is just giving me the run around… I told him that I have the cash to put down on it and everything...
The main question I have is…I know that a few people have them already, but how many of you guys have ordered one with all the options that YOU want as opposed to just buy whatever one they have on the lot. Any info would definitely help… Thanks

not true about the 1 in 10. Only 3% of civic SI will have navi and 12000 will be built. So that means about 400or less will have it. I have a silver one with navi due in late jan.
I am just wondering what the draw is with navi? Do you guys get lost a lot or something? I am a traveling salesman of sorts and I dont do anything the occasional map cant handle with a lot of driving.
Anyway, try another dealer. If you are willing to travel a little to find one I bet you can get your car a lot sooner and perhaps for a better price. Good luck!

Will the voice help me get to the office I go to every morning quicker? I have been in plenty of cars with navi and most of the navi systems are doing the same thing....NOTHING!!!!

my mom's XC90 has DVD navi, and i never liked it at all. "how the hell hard is it to go to freakin Mapquest and print out directions," i found myself saying. after all, i had driven for a while in my 91 accord, DVD navi-less.
but then i took a visit to Monterey (a little while down the coast from San Jose, here in CA) with a bunch of japanese girls. ok so i'm the driver with girls who've never seen the country before, let alone the city.
so i used my mom's car--and that was when i believed in DVD nav. navigating the silly maze that is the middle of Monterey, California, was easy as pie. i didnt make any wrong turns, and i was out of there in a flash--and i didnt have to glace down at any map, directions, or even really do anything. hell, the car almost drove itself!
it may sound like "damn, you're a bitch" but seriously, DVD navi is a big help. i know it's like, the manly thing or whatever to IM NOT GONNA ASK NO ONE FOR NO ****** HELP NOWHERE GAAHHH NOW LET ME GO DRINK BEER AND WATCH FOOTBALL but seriously man, i tell you, DVD nav rocks in unknown locations. i wouldnt use it driving where i know i'm going, but anywhere i havent been or anywhere confusing..DVD navi is a lifesaver.

if you think that traveling in monterey is hard you have bigger problems. the whole city is like 3 streets.

where did you get that info from?
Just curious.

i ordered my si (black) a few days ago w/out navi. dealer said they wouldn't have any with navi at least a couple of months into 2006. does anyone know if i could just purchase the navi once my si gets here and have it installed with all the parts and stuff at the dealership??
You can install navi after your purchase your car, but I dont think it's worth the time or money. I would just wait for the navi version to be available.
They dealer I spoke with said that you CANNOT install the navi in the car... They only come that way from the dealership.... If they could do it that way, I would never have even posted this topic... But if this is true, then I will ask another dealer
people arguing about navi is stupid....
thats' like saying who needs a luxury car like a BMW M3 when you can get a Honda civic and still gets you from point A to point B??
the whole point of navi is convenience, navigation, and is a luxury tool in your car.
for one man to say navi is useless, is saying Corvette Z06's are useless for his honda can still travel the same speed limit.
if you have navi, great. If you don't, too bad.

I'm going to try and contact another dealer also just to make sure. I don't see where there would be a problem? If someone with a si w/navi got into an accident that happened to mess the navi up or something and it had to be replaced i think it would be possible. The contract is already signed and filled out so im stuck with no navi until the dealership can install one for me.\\
Just talked to Honda Customer Relatons and was told that after leaving the factory, the navigation system is not held as a genuine honda accessory and would not be recommended for the dealer to install. The installation is basically up to you and your on your own. They also said that it would void the new car warranty and if anything was to happen, say with the electrical, the repair or replacement would not be covered by American Honda.
Anyone think that it's possible to go to the dealer and ask to wait for one with navi and sign a different contract and shred the other or is it not that serious?

that is a long time to wait for the car, i don't think Navigation is important, a lot of cell phones have GPS, i got that on my blackberry, I guess i was just too imaptient, i called sacramento and none of them had Si's at all. I drove to concord to get mine, and it's it only one I've seen so far, i bought mine on the 16th
well, i live in sac area too. i actually got the si currently and i got it with basicly all options just no navi. it actaully came from honda to teh dealer laoded with aero, to wheels...its tough to say for teh navi no one knows when its going to be sent unless you ordered it. ive seen one guy who has it. your best bet is to just get one and add it later cause its still teh same price. and i paid msrp for mine loaded..
mine is a "stripper" Si, if there is such a thing, my Si is just basic, but is there a way i can get mine loaded by taking it into the honda dealership or what?

Correct. A dealer wont do it for you. It's not worth their time to do the research to get the job done. However, smaller electronics shops will do the install for you. A guy at http://www.acurazine.com got the oem navi installed into his 04+TL. Cost him 500 bucks for the install. He had to buy the parts himself. Cost him around 2000 bucks just for the parts.

if you really want navi, there are several aftermarket stereo companies that make excellent navigation products. Eclipse, alipine & pioneer just to name a few. You get the navigation AND better sound. How much is the navigation option anyhow? If it's much more than 1g, i'd say go aftermarket.
