I think your best bet is to buy a skunk2 IM.

Eliminating the secondaries is not going to improve performance (in most cases there are actually power losses).

you have alot of searching to do pal. you also better watch who you call ignorant because right now, your the only one looking "ignorant".

1st off, leave the butterflies in. unless you have supporting mods such as cams, headwork, etc...it wont be worth it and you will actually lose power. your also much much better off just getting a different manifold. blox, skunk 2, endyne, etc....all of these manifolds are single runner manifolds, mainly helping top end power. and as i said before, depending upon your supporting mods, you will probly lose power.

2nd, the butterflies have nothing to do with vtec. vtec has its own separate system controling the engagment of a second set of camshaft lobes...that is vtec. the secondary butterflies in your stock manifold are based upon a different system with their own purpose. they help make low end torque and greatly imporve drivability during normal cruising. these open at 5600 while vtec, based upon all the parameters being met, engages at 4400.

so w/ Blox manifold you will lose power, unless you swap the ecu to OBD I, correct. this is where you avoid the dips on the dyno as well as avoiding those damn CEL's. at least that is what i have gathered. correct me if i am wrong. i am also ignorant

i also want to know how to eliminate the secondaries as well. I've read that some honda-tech members were able to lower their 1/4 mile time a little, im not sure if thats true but thats what i've been reading. There is a way to zip tie the minifold to be "open" at all times but i dont know what to zip tie. Thats what i want to test out

You guys are really something. If your racing, the butterflys will be open the whole time, taking them out will do nothing. On a stock gsr, obviously its getting more air low end then it needs, so butterflies were the answer.

u can leave em open by disconnecting the vacuum hose from IAB box connecting to the manifold's nipple but i dont recommend it

the IAB are open when they are in the down position. you can keep them open by taking off the vacume line that goes to it, but its going to leav you with a vacume leak.

Don't that only open at 5750 rpms?

I was using hondata s200 on a p28 which doesnt control the secondaries. So we unpluged the vacuum line and plugged it up but we lost hp in the midrange because of this!

to answer everyones questions.....
first-
the butterfly plate is completely removable if you take the manifold off.....you take out the bolts remove the center plate with the butterflys and bolt it back together...

its pretty much a waste of time.....

second....

on the driver side of the manifold there is a vac hose you can remove and they will be open all the time...this will not create a vaccuum leak as long as you plug the hose.

3rd

the secondaries are open until they see vacuum...thus pulling the hose off.... they will remain open.

the people that zip tie the valve are tieing it shut....god knows why....

there is a canister under the intake manifold with an electric switch that opens them at 5800 rpm
