Default KYB AGX and ____ springs...

Hey guys, I currently have a set of kyb agx's on my 00 hatch that are paired up with a set of mediocre coilovers that I told were fantastic Anyways, I was wondering what type of springs some of you guys were using with your AGX's that have a nice and smooth ride. Pictures would be great also TIA! and Merry Christmas

I'm in the same boat as you. I have some pretty crappy coils that came with the car with AGX Shocks. Is there any decent priced ones out there that won't break my bank?

My coilovers aren't too horrible, but there is a little more bounce than I would like on the highway. I know whenever you lower your car on a budget suspension there will be some bounce, but I'm sure the AGX's are capable of a smoother ride if paired up with the right springs.

I have AGX's on an EG with ground controls. Those of you with generic springs, do you know what the spring rates are? I have tried different spring rates and have yet to find a combination that is bouncy. Most cars that have decent shocks and still have a bouncy ride is because the car is lowered too much for that particular spring rate. This causes the shock to bottom on the bump stop or bottom out completely if you don't have bump stop.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Well I don't have my bumpstops in. I'm pretty sure I never bottomed out either. Most people I have talked to said if you bottom out a shock, you will know it...and I'm really not sure, so I'm guessing I never bottomed them out. Either way, I'm pretty sure my cheap-o coilovers are what is causing the bouncing, because my car isn't all that low yet.

Also, jdmsiguy and pumatec do you have any pics of your car with the drop?

i have the agx's on ebay dropzones (they are like 80 bucks) with 450f 350r. I think it holds up just fine. I have them set on 4 (highest settings for EG) and it kinda compensates for the shitty springs. I bought the springs for an integra though because of the heavy beast under the hood

AGX's mated with neuspeed race springs. My opinion, the closest to stock (meaning little bounce) you can achieve, while still having a tight, stiff suspension.

Any pictures so I can get an idea of how low the neuspeed and tein's lower the car? Thanks guys!

I have B+G springs on my 96 accord with AGX dampers, and I am quite pleased had them for about 3 years and they still perform great.

I have ground controls with my kyb agx's, and their amazing. If you want smooth ride u should even really be lookingg at aftermarket suspension. just stick with stock. But if u want wicked sick handling i would sudjest the kyb's with the ground control coilovers. U get used the the stiffness tho.

I have AGX's with Tein springs on my EG but the shocks and the springs are for the DC so its alittle bit stiffer.

I must agree with you. I'm not asking for a perfect suspension though, I'm just looking to reduce the bounce while on the highway. I figure I have the AGX's already, I might as well get the most out of them.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Pictures are welcomed

I rock skunk2 coils (integra rate) with AGXs, rides and handles really good. Two of my friends are rocking Ground Controls (integra rates) with AGXs too, rides and handling are comparable.

I'm sort of aiming more towards lowering springs than coilovers, but thanks for all the replies!

Ground controls are IMHO the very best you can get.

Its a coilover system and you can by custom springs to fit your application or off teh shelf models.

Keep in mind AGX's cant be lowered more than 1.25" without voiding the warranty, it might even be less than that.

All in all AGX are a good entry level strut, but if you want to go low and maintain a good ride you need a better strut- i personally am switching from agx to koni yellow.

Also, I recommend the ground control upper mounts to extend shock travel and the life of your strut.

I know, but like stated before I'm in no position to buy a crazy suspension setup, but at the same time I know my agx's are capable of a less bouncy ride than I have with these cheap-o coilovers. Just looking for people that are happy with their agx's and ___ springs.

Thanks for the replies though. I'm pretty sure I will upgrade my upper mounts when I change over to springs. Anyone know a site that sells these at a reasonable price? I believe it was eibach that I saw for $11 each before. Very reasonable.

Any pictures of the drop? I was aiming towards H&R race springs, but I'm afraid that the drop might be too low for the horrible roads in good ol' Pennsylvania.

race springs are real stiff, if you use your car as a daily driver get sport springs. its about a 2 inch drop all the way around. looks clean.

Do you have pics of your car on the sport springs? I was debating getting h&r springs before. I've heard nothing but good about them.
