Default anyone have experience with failing oil pumps.

have a fresh rebuilt motor it ran perfect for 3 days and literally all of a sudden stopped running. it will start and run but will shut off after about a min. now the more times i try to start it to diagnose what may be the cause the engine is sounding worse and worse. it just keeps getting louder and louder. just trying to see if anyone has known a oil pump to cause any of these problems. thanks

Was the oil pump new or used? 99% of the time we will demand a new oil pump be used during a rebuild. Many times you will see piting on the gear which can lead to failure. The other thing that is common is that a lot of builders are not **** enough about cleaning their parts and keeping them clean before assembly. One small piece of metal caught in a passage somewhere can lead to failure.

Wish I could provide better input, but yes it does sound like it could be an oil pump. Are you getting oil pressure?

what good will the gauge do for this specific issue?
