shaved door
yeah that **** would be hot b, my boyee has his doors shaved like the dukes of hazard car and its hot as hell yo! do it holmes
heheh... it costs about $450+ for a good job for just the body work
The solenoids, wiring, relays... blah, blah, blah about $300-$400 for parts, you must have a complatible alarm
If you don't do it yourself (hardware), (I did, it's a bitch!)... It's about a $250 install from a shop..
So about $700-$1100 for it to be done right.. and you MUST get it done by a shop that has experience in it...
I think I paid $350 for body work/paint. The guy did an outstanding job!! He cut around my handle and welded a steel plate on, no crappy bondo job and will pop out in a year. The lines on the car match up 100%. I bought a solenoid kit for something like $150 at autoloc.com.
NO, mine were way smaller, either 11lbs or 15lbs. Just make sure if you're gonna install the kit yourself have a way to get in your car if the door doens't open right!! I don't know how many times I had to crawl thorugh my hatch of my VW until I got it working properly. I really had to rig the latch mechanism becasue the solenoid actually didn't pull far enough to fully open the lock.

No probs with the solenoids after about 6 months in the heat and rain of Miami. Autoloc;.com's solenoids have a limited lifetime warranty too...
No, the solenoids pull hard enough, they just only pull like 1/2, so I just had to rig the latching mechanism by wrapping some heavy wire around it so it stays almost open all the time. Works great going on almost 3 years now! Just had to mess with it a little, but it was worth it, saved a few bucks!! The 35 or 50lb would have been too big to fit behind my door panels anyway.
No, they are supposed to be relatively maintenance free, but I try to keep them coated lightly with some Lithium grease just to be safe...
I spent over $350 in parts for my setup (4 doors isn't cheap), so I want it to last a very long time.

I love the look of my car w/o handles... looks slick.. most people do triple takes. Plus it's ***** hard to steal my car... not only do you have to unlock it, then you have to figure out how to open the door... all while the alarm is going off !
Shaved door handles rule ! Ricers suck...
