Ok, I put a jdm d15b vtec block in a crx. I used a 16 valve nonvtec head. I tried the 104 tooth vtec belt = too short. Then i tried the 106 tooth non vtec belt way too long. From my understanding there is also a 103 tooth belt but I assumed that it would also be too small. Is there a timing belt that will work with this combination. I ve went over and overand tried all the belts that I had and could not get any of the f....ers to fit. At this point I am so frustrated that I cant think. Anybody please help.
you will probly need to change the crankshaft gear and any other gear that the belt goes around to match the gear on the head(or change the gear on the camshaft to match the rest)
But I ask as well
WHY would you do this in the first place?????????????

Got the block for free and the rings are still good. Rings are bad on the block that matches the head. Thanks for any help. Isnt the vtec block shorter?
Your supposed to use whatever belt corresponds with the head. So use the belt that would belong to your head. Let me know if you figure out how to do the timming cause Im tryin to put a Y7 head on a B7 block and its not working out...

Yes, I took the spring off and still too short. I even took the tensioner off of a nonvtec block(nonvtec tensioner has a wider diameter) and used the longer spring off of the nonvtec block and the 106 tooth belt is still too long. Just barely enough to jump a tooth

Im not real familiar with d series but it is off of a 88- 91 16 valve block. That is true but I guess i need to find a vtec cam gear and measure it. If someone can measure the diameter for methat would really help.
You are stuck with a quandry, a 1.5L VTEC block with the smaller deck height, the VTEC autotensioner, and non-vtec head.
- You can't change the crank gear, deal with it
- Can't change the tensioner itself, just the tension (well you can't on a A6)
- Cam gear won't help with length only location
So people of the universe, is there a Honda 105 tooth timing belt that can be used?
Have you ever thought of just going to Advanced and counting teeth on a belt?
