Today's Projects: Radiator Hoses and Shifter Bushings
With a day off work do you think I went and did some last minute Christmas shopping? Hell no - I spent some time in the garage doing some winter maintenance to the ITR to get ready for the upcoming track season.
First up was a set of the Samco silicon radiator hoses. I had noticed the stock hoses looking a bit worn and decided this was a good, smart preventative bit of work. Install was really easy with no problems.
Next, I threw on a set of the Mugen hard shifter bushings. This turned out to be a bigger pain in the *** than I ever imagined. I had some great difficulty getting the new hard busing into the proper hole (these things just do not give much) or getting the right metal bar to fit into the new bushing. After plenty of cussing I finally got them on. No impressions yet, but I'll post some up when I get the chance.

Sounds like fun (not)
Anything wrong with the original shifter bushings, or are you just increasing your mad JDM titeness?

What's the advantage over the Mugen bushings as oppose to the Prothane or Energy Suspension ones? Besides being more expensive?
how tight does that lower radiator hose fit? meaning, its it really close the tranny? I have had to replace my lower hose twice now bc it rubs on bracket on the tranny and starts to wear a hole. I have an aftermarket autozone radiator so Im wondering if the fitment is different from stock.

</TD></TR></TABLE>my friends have the ES bushings...they like it but just too stiff and notchy feeling to me. i heard that the mugens however are a nice compromise in that they are noticeably stiffer than the oem, but not as radical a change in feel as compared to the ES or prothane ones. this is what is making me lean towards getting the mugen when i find the time.

Exactly the reason I went with Mugen.
The ES are DIRT cheap though. Around $10 shipped.
I've installed plenty of aftermarket bushings and I have always found it easier to just remove the shift linkage and do it off the car instead. Much easier

Just in case those show judges get down low under the car. These might take me to my first car show win...
The OEM bushings were just getting a little tired.

There is no fitment problem at all with these Samco hoses and the OE radiator.

jonathan, i can vouch for the pain in the *** those shifter bushings are.
well, not as much as you might have, since i didn't even get them on. i just gave up...and will have someone help me put them in.
i always look forward to your threads: good tech and maintenance info.

Looks good. I run a set of black Samco's. Spotted a minor crack and I felt it was a good excuse to upgrade.
I plan on doing a Mugen bushing upgrade next year as well. Shifter, steering rack, rear trailing, front fork and shock. All Mugen.

The Mugen stabilizer link bushings are definatley a PITA to put in. We usually use an aluminum jaw vice to install them at the shop.
Hoses look good.
