Default Overheating with heater off..Can I remove the heater core?

I was just thinking. When my car was running durring the summer, I would have to have the heter on full blast, otherwise the temps would climb dramatically, but with the heater on they would be just right. Now I was wondering...I dont care if the heater works, and I was wondering how I can I have the cooling effect of the heater blasting, without the heater blasting lol? Is it as simple as removing the heater? Sorry for the lame question, I am just planning ahead for when my car gets running again. Oh and please dont tell me why it was overheating, I just want an answer to my question. Thanks alot guys.

the heater is a source of cooling for the engine coolant. so if you remove that source than there will be no extra cooling from just having the switch on. get your car healthy before trying to keep it cool that way. good luck

no because the heater is pulling heat out of the coolant and keeping the engine cooler. I had an overheating problem last summer and just got a fluidyne and that solved all my problems, even on the hottest of days here in Miami

I have a fluidyne civic radiator, but its in an H22 Prelude, huge front mount, so I think that it might be blocking the air, but how come I have to have the heater blasting for it to stay cool?

start by flushing the cooling system and refilling it with quality coolant. don't forget to bleed the system. if that doesn't work i'd replace the thermostat, check to make sure the fan is coming on and make sure your headgasket is in good condition.

when u turn on the heater blower, it pulls the heat out of the coolant, making the engine cooler.

did u replace the radiator cap?

The heater core is a heat exchanger, just like the radiator, only it resides inside the cabin. It's thicker and smaller, but it does the same thing.

Simple, because for some reason, your cooling system isn't doing its job. Clogged radiator, low coolant level, air in the system, thermostat stuck, blocked off radiator air passage, leak in the system, failing water pump, radiator fan switch not working, radiator fan relay bad... SOMETHING is not functioning as it was designed to.
