Default stupid questions

i think there should be a place for some really stupid q's. the kinda question where you feel absolutely retarded to ask.
so i'll start first. i have a 1990 accord. it was just given to me. i wanna make the engine compartment shine ( well i guess as much as a stock 1990 engine compartment would shine). now i know in oldschool muscle cars you cover the distributer and you're waterproof. my stupid q is what do i have to cover in my honda? or is it even safe to take a hose in there?

if this post is in the wrong place, and is gonna get moved let me know.

^^^ i agree, except it shouldnt be for stupid questions, but more for new people trying to learn how things work. I think that-that would be a good idea because a few people around here (not the majority) get like affended when u ask newby questions and just respond with ignorance. Also i understand we need to search before we ask questions, but not everything is covered so this would be a good idea imo.

i very much agree. when i started this post, that was my intention. after going through a few different topics i realized, other than the actual piston going up and down type of thing, i don't know a f****** thing about these little cars. could someone point me in the right direction?

I thought all the stupid questions/thread ended up in the General Discussion area. God I HATE that damn forum....seriously makes you wonder how people have so much time on their hands.

Dear God, I just opened the forum to see what kind of topics were in there......and now I COMPLETELY see where you are coming from. I will never open that god forsaken forum again Some of the topics make me wonder why they dont administer IQ tests to become HT members

Well i dont mean stupid questions, i mean questions that new people to the honda scene might not know.

:edit: by the way i just checked that general forum out, and those are dumb questions but most of them are irrelevent to cars.

There should be a section called "Newbie Questions." That might help, but I doubt many people would have the patience to post in that forum

Well I think thats why it is called General Debate, and nothing just specifically related to cars......cause in there, you can talk about pretty much anything.

Good luck, and welcome to Honda-Tech. Naw, but for real, those nice people would help them if they had their own section specifically dedicated to that, but when newbies just post crap where ever they think it would get attention, then that just straight pisses people off.....

cleaner motors hold less heat which in turn lowers oil temps, water temps, intake temps which makes greater overall performance so the q could be taken as a general n/a tuning tip in some wierd way. take some engine brite(a whole aerosol can) to a mildly hot, not super hot motor, and let it set for a bit to cool off then high pressure wash it good. the dist should be fine if you dont sit there and directly spray it just try and avoid it. if you are ultra paranoid take a plastic bag and just cover it.
