I'm not stupid or anything just curious, If i was to spray my engine down would i be in for some trouble? I've seen people with clean *** engines all around and they said they sprayed it down, wiped it with this and that etc....so is it a myth if u spray ur car ur going to screw it up?

Just make sure to cover up your electrical components (ie. battery, distributor, etc) and you should be fine.

Hmm if i forget to cover one i'd be screwed right? haha hmm I guess i have to be extra careful got a list of what i should cover?
I don't cover the distributor or alternator. Haven't had a problem but it would have time to dry out before I'm driving away. I usually watch out for the battery & brake-fluid reservoirs so I don't get water in thru the vents. I'm careful not to get those caps wet, but otherwise I just avoid spraying directly onto stuff like wiring harnesses.
I don't use a pressure-washer either. Just some cleaner (simplegreen or ??) & a stiff brush. Then a hose nozzle that doesn't make a real hard spray.

I have cleaned my engine bay a few times . . . . I never cover anything up i just make sure not to spray water directly on anything electrical. I even used a power washer once on a really dirty engine i had.

Thanks alot guys i was going to go use a pressure-machine at my local high school but I 'm just going to Spray my engine with a hose. . . My engine is Diiiiiiirty and its time to clean it and make it *twinkle twinkle*
ive detailed cars for 2 years and i've sprayed over 200 engine bays down. spray the engine down with degreaser first, let it sit for a 10 minutes or so then power wash it. make sure if you have a cone filtered intake to cover that, anything else should be ok. the only problems ive seen is on cadillacs where they wont start for about an hour. never seen problems with an import. good luck
just last week i sprayed down my 2nd gen civic (it was NASTY!) w/ some simple green while i was at the wash. i used the pressure washer to rinse it off. i did both twice and now it looks like a million bucks.
I use the Gunk Foaming engine degreaser and it seems to work great on very dirty engines. It does leave a film on painted surfaces but just wipe it down with some Simple Green. I've found that simple green works very good at cleaning and shining up just about anything under the hood. I've never covered anything up when spraying, but I don't spray my distributor or my MSD at all.
