I figured you guys would be interested in this.

One of my JDM friends gave me some JDM car
mags that he didn't want anymore, and I found
this article and spyshot of the possible next gen CTR.

There's a translation of the article below, and I took a
closeup shot of the article for those of you who can read
Japanese. Perhaps you can type up a better translation
than I did.








My Japanese is not perfect, but I think I did
a pretty accurate translation. "My, I, and Me"
refer to the author of this article, and not yours truly.
This is a DIRECT translation, so it might sound funny
to native English speakers.

On September 22nd of this year Honda gloriously offered
a glimpse of the next Civic Type-R.Then, Honda lovers
quickly said: "What?! Europe will only get
the Hatchback and Japan will get a sedan? A sedan cannot be
a true Civic Type-R!"

How do you feel about it? As you know, this car will only
be developed for Japan's domestic market. This is a very
uplifting thing for Japanese Honda lovers. If they finally
decide to put this car into production, it is so like Honda to
do such a thing. The Civic Type-R will have the same engine

generation Civic Sedan SiR placed the highest in its class
during the Japan Super Touring (at JGTC) races that were popular in the 90's.
On par with the Mercedes C-class Super Touring racecar of the
same years. Thus, a Civic sedan already has victory in its heritage.

Since the next generation Civic Type-R shares the same 2 liter
DOHC i-VTEC engine as the current Integra Type-R, it's sure
to be a fast car, as well as fun to drive. It will share the same
6-speed manual transmission as well.

For the exterior, it will be the traditional championship white,
and have the trademark Type-R rear spoiler. Also, you'll find a
body kit unique to only the Type-R sedan. The interior will have have red Recaro seats.

Honda has not yet decided to release the car as a 2006 or 2007.
I hope Honda considers the Japanese version of the Civic Type-R
to be the European hatchback.

 

I read your translation, and even though they try to justify it, a CTR should NOT be a four door. I mean even if it does handle as well as the two door does currently, it still doesn't make any sense. I give it one thumb up for looking decent, but the other thumb goes way down for the 4 door.

 

What engine will it have? Not that it matters to us...

Also, there is no Civic coupe (Im talking this generation only) being made for the Japaneese market correct? So that would be why this would be a sedan? ?
