just keep that motor since gas is expensive. cheaper regular fuel + good gas mileage = super savings. other than that the only way you get power is a motor swap or a mini-me like what CTR-GSR said.

If you dont want to go that route/short on cash, you can start off by i/h/e, lighter wheels, take stuff that you dont need out of car, etc to make the car go a little faster

u can also swap a ex/si trans also , makes a huge difference.. better yet get a 96-00 ex trans cause they have steel shift forks ,, 92-95's have aluminum and they have been know to break

92-95 ex/si or 96-00 ex tranny swap, best bang for buck mod. also look up mistabone he's done quite a bit of tinkering with the 1.5, there are quite a few oem upgrades you could do. 4th gen si cam swap, z6 or y8 intake manifold swap, z6 or y8 exhaust manifolds (the 00 is the best). most of these things can be found pretty easily and cheaply. depending on what you want to do you can go alot further obviously.

Normally I have some suggestions even for stock engines, but the 70hp 8-valve CX engine is total ****.

I'd at least try and find a good 92-95 Civic DX 1.5L D15B7, or better yet perhaps round up an old 88-91 Civic/CRX Si D16A6 in good shape and drop it in. They have 106hp stock compared to your 70hp. You can probably find damn near FREE D16A6 or D15B7 engines due to their low demand and the fact that people junk them after going with the B, H, or K series engine swaps.

BTW:

Best band for the buck mod would be an EX/Si transmission swap - the CX has the tallest gearing and tallest final drive, which means it takes forever to power through each gear and the rpm drops too far when shifting into each gear.

i disagree with everyone. i would say the best bang for the buck is nitrous. blow your motor and get a cheap swap like a b18b. then start working from there. my 2 cents though

70hp CX engine + nitrous = still slower than a stock Dx engine and may last a few weeks at best.

Swap it qwuik, I have a 92 CX ran like 20sec. 1/4 mile run, put a D16Z6/Si tranny and some bolt ons and now I run 15.3s all day.
