Quick Tranny Qustion for you B series experts
Newb Question how can you tell the Difference between an LS, B16 b18 Type R tranny? as far as i can tell i dont see any Seal's like the Honda blocks have. so how would a beginner like me found out he's getting a B16 tranny? instead of an LS tranny
Unless you open up the tranny and count teeth or install the tranny, you will probably not know for sure if you are getting a B16 or a LS tranny.
Theres a tag, And if the tag is missing then the only way besides taking it apart is just to put it in and see if you have long or short gears...
If there is a tag it will say:
Ys1 b16 (short)
A1 LS (long)
J1 I think B16

Y21's and S21's are hydraulic tranny's. The tricky part about going by the tags is that there are USDM tranny's that are also tagged S1, J1, YS1, etc.
