this weeks dilemma: car wouldnt start after getting gas..later shuts off while driving
well, i took my car out tonight to get gas and drop it off at a shop to have the car checked out.
i got gas, filled up and went to start the car. it wouldnt start. i cranked about four times in five minutes and it finally started.
i got on the road driving to the shop, i was doing about 55 and the car just shut off. i pulled over to the shoulder and after cursing a bit, cranked once and it started up.
drove 10 more minutes to the shop and the car gave me no other problems.
i'm thinking distributor, how bout you guys?

whats the mtl?
as for the car not starting at the gas station, that sounds like the main relay.
Its a 40-50 dollar relay, and worth replacing on older hondas. I've had the "no start after getting gas" for a long time, replaced main relay, fixed that problem.
Search "main relay" and you will know exactly why it fails.
as for the car shutting down while driving, and restarting right afterwards, I've never been that lucky.

yep, thats what it is. did it in mine also. just going down the road and it would stop... wht you need to do is listen to see if the fuel pump turns on... if not, then its most likely the relay

MTL......MORE THEN LIKELY.....but ahh i had a dizzy **** like that on the highway once like that then it started then die then started agiain then died then again started then died...but any way some times my fuel pump dont work too wtf......WHAT THE expletive... if i change the main relay ya think that would fix the fuel pump that doesnt kick on some times
the mair relay is on the drivers side on the left behing the kick pannel. it is bolted to a bracket and there are two different relays and if im correct the main relay is on the back side. also, the main relays are only interchangable in the 90-93 integras. ive tried to use a eg and ef main and they dont work.... yes people have solder them, but i just find it easier to just find one at a junk yard and/or buy a new one
My mainrelay went bad and the back of the circuit board (took it apart) was all coated in brown sealant (normal) but some spots were black and burnt (not normal)
and for the car dying Id have to say it could be a number of things
crank position
igniter
coil
fuel pump
PGMFI relay
dizzy cap and rotor <- this how mine broke
even a fuel filter can eventully choke a car
well best of luck to u but First check PGMFI relay

sounds about right
it's also possible your teg has electrical gremlins, and by that I mean a short somewhere.

fuel pump primes every time.
i've never even heard of the PGMFI relay

When problems arise, one of those clicks (usually the third) is missing, making those clicks a handy diagnostics tool. If you consistently hear/feel all three clicks, the Relay is fine. DO NOT REPLACE IT.

refer to the red. it says turn key to start..do they mean start the car, or turn the key all the way as if i was starting the car?
i hear the first two clicks..and the fuel pump primes..but when i turn the car on, its too loud to hear a third click
