Default Gas ???

Ok i have an H22A4 with 120k on it. I have run premium 93 in it everytime. Recently my car has began to hesitate not always and usually when it is colder. But i have felt i slight loss of power throughout the rpm range. I changed the wires, plugs, cap and rotor about a month ago, before this problem began. I have had the car for alittle over a year and a half and have put about 15k on it. The car was very well taken care of by it previous owner and all maintenance was kept up. I have also kept up on maintanence. Also there are no CELs. Anyway today i was talking with my mechanic about the problem and he said before I start changing parts and spending alot of money he said to change gas. I have been using Wawa and Hess gas. He said although they use additives required by the state it is a lesser quality gas than exon or sunoco. Is this true?

I ran 94 octane from Sunoco in my H22A1...ran good. Put some 89 from Esso, ran just as good and got better gas mileage...

Both gas' got me to run a 15.0, and a half tank of 91 got me a 14.8. So who cares...gas is gas, if you do injector cleaners and line cleaners once in a while, you will run good.

replaced ur fuel filter lately? sounds like your filter is old. 91 octane at any station is better than 83 or 87 else where, i my opinion at least. but i use shell gas if u really care.

i always use chevron or 76. chevron has more cleaners in it, and 76 was the first to switch away from mtbe (better for the environment)

Shell had a class action lawsuit in Canada because their gas had too many harsh additives that ate through people's CATs.

I find the bigger "better" brands don't always give me such a good gas mileage... Also keep in mind, that a lot of companies "trade" gas, so if they are unable to fill up the gas station with their liquid stuff, they'll buy it off someone else.

Edit: In my opinion, how you drive has a much bigger effect than the gas you us (assuming it's the same octane).

Sunoco 94 octane. Can't beat it.

The shell vpower is a great gasoline though. I just never use it. There was a study a few years ago - comparing the detergents in all of the major gasoline companies. Shell VPower was the ONLY gasoline that actively cleans fuel injectors. This was a few years ago - so, i can assume everyone has caught up by now.

I average almost 50 miles more to a tank when I use Shell V-Power. I love it and try not to use anything else.

I always use either Shell V-power93 or Sunoco 93.
I did have a problem with Wawa gas in my old civic one time and i stopped using wawa gas forever.

i would avoid the wawa and hess. go with amoco or shell, i don't know anything about sunoco. also, use REDLINE SYNTHETIC FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER to flush out your fuel system. then change your fuel filter.

i would say u have a fuel filter problem they are cheap and a good thing to change every 10k or so sounds like its ur problem the gas and temp have nothing to do with it because the gas u put in ur car already has the right additives in it for cold or hot climates if that dosent work check ur fuel pressure and the injector pulses good luck

if you're gonna use fuel cleaner, use B&G Products 44K. that **** is potent!! but put a little octane booster in with it, my gsr ran like **** while it was in there (octane too low), but afterwards, on a full tank of premium, it ran great again.
